As a former patient, the task of redesigning Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital held great meaning to me. I wanted the design to reflect how I felt when I was a patient, at the same time simplify the experience to get the parents the information they need quickly.
During an exploratory tour of the new hospital, I learned that Le Bonheur was started by the Le Bonheur Club, a local sewing circle. Threading had been used many times before, but knowing about the sewing circle gave new weight to the design element. The design that followed uses subtle threading throughout that helps to add some dimension to the site, but doesn’t get in the way of the content.
